Since 1970, Southern A&E has proudly served the design needs of over 65 K-12 educational systems in Georgia along with many higher education institutions. During that time, we have completed: 132 new elementary schools, 64 new middle schools, 36 new high schools, and thousands of additions and renovations.

During the design of an educational facility, we encourage each of our employees to think like a manager with the welfare of the client always held uppermost in their decision making. When a client retains the services of Southern A&E, we will deliver a well-organized, comfortable, and safe space that is configured for its intended purpose.

Crawford County Middle/High School

400 East Agency Street, Roberta, GA 31078

The recently completed 172,340 sf middle/high school was designed by Southern A&E and opened in the summer of 2022. The new school consists of a two-story middle school wing, a two-story high school wing, a core wing with kitchen and cafeteria, C.T.A.E. wing and a gymnium and fieldhouse.

Main Elementary School

3 Watters Street, Rome, GA 30161

The two story replacement school features a large media center with collaborative learning spaces for the students and conference rooms and offices for the faculty. A large corridor greets visitors into the school with administrative offices and visitor waiting. Each hall is color coded per grade level and has its own technology lab. Specials include a physical education gymnasium, music lab and art classroom.

Heard County GPAC

545 Main Street, Franklin, GA 30217

The new Heard County Gymnasium and Performing Arts Center was completed in the Summer 2021. The multidiscipline center features a large competition gymnasium with lockers and coaches offices along with a performing arts center. The PAC  houses a large multi-use atrium, boys and girls dressing rooms, stage equipment storage and ticket windows for productions.

Rome College and Career Academy

1000 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Rome, GA 30161

The recently completed 164,000 sf Rome College and Career Academy was designed by Southern A&E and opened to the public in February of 2021. Some of the unique classrooms/labs featured in the facility include Cyber Security, Broadcast Production, Sports Medicine, Veterinary Services, Manufacturing, and Fire/Police. The new CCA also houses an indoor 55-yard synthetic turf practice field along with lockers and weight training.

Pope-McGinnis Student Activity Center

201 Trojan Dr., Carrollton, GA 30117

The new student activity center at Carrollton High School serves not only multiple sports at the high school but also the community. A 100-yard indoor synthetic turf field is the highlight of the facility. Multiple bay doors help with air circulation along with industrial-sized fans. The center also features a gymnasium, weight training, indoor sprint track, offices, lockers, and team meeting/multi-purpose rooms.

Carrollton High School

Southern A&E is pleased to announce that Phase 1 of the 3 Phase construction project at Carrollton High School is complete. With an aesthetically pleasing two-story entrance, the three-story lobby is a must-see. The main level of Phase 1 consists of the Administration and Special Education Suites. The middle and top levels have a total of 27 classrooms along with the Music and Art rooms. To top it all off, a school store has been included in the design to allow swift accessibility for students in need of last-minute school spirit. We look forward to updating you on Phases 2 and 3 upon their completion!"

Carroll County Performing Arts

815 Old Newnan Rd, Carrollton, GA 30116

The main entrance to the center entails a two-story lobby that has quick access to the balcony level of the auditorium. There is a total of 1,132 seats in the auditorium; the balcony can seat 384 people, while the main floor can seat 748 people. Not only is there a plethora of seating, but there are multiple maple wood wall and ceiling box diffusers that scatter and diffuse sound for the best possible acoustical performance. With a 324” retractable screen and a floating maple wood floor than can accommodate different purposes, the Carroll County Performing Arts Center is a must-see!

Jackson County High School

152 Jaxco Junction, Hoschton, GA 30548

The new 195,000 square foot high school for the Jackson County School System was completed in the fall of 2021. The high school promotes collaborative learning in the many unique spaces throughout the school. State-of-the-art classrooms and labs help students learn to grow while providing a secure and sfae enviroment. The school features a performing arts center, 2 story media center, a synthetic turf football field, and a 2 story gymnasium.

Legacy Knoll Middle School

79 Legacy Knoll Ln, Hoschton, GA 30548

Legacy Knoll Middle School, encompassing 123,290 square feet, is located on 23 acres between Jackson County High School and Heroes Elementary School within a 134.7-acre combined campus designed by Southern A&E for Jackson County Schools. The school accommodates 900 full-time students with 56 instructional units. Notable features include specialized labs for agriculture, healthcare science, and technology, dedicated classrooms for
band and chorus, a media center with collaborative learning areas, a cafeteria, and a gymnasium.

Calhoun High School

355 South River Street, Calhoun, GA 30701

The new Calhoun High School was part of a three-year multi-building process for Calhoun City Schools that included a new gymnasium and a new middle school. The new high school consists of 62 classrooms and labs totaling over 170,500 square feet. Highlighted areas of the new high school include a culinary arts laboratory, a multi-level cafeteria with separate senior seating, a high-tech media center, and a truly customizable black-box theater.

Coosa High School

4454 Alabama Highway, Rome, GA 30165

Phase 1 of Coosa High School was completed in the fall of 2015. The new building has three levels housing 54 instructional units. The school features a multi-level cafeteria and media center along with a large central commons area with a staircase spanning all three levels. Technology hubs are located in all of the commons areas and feature benches with built-in charging stations. Phase 2 of Coosa High added a new competition gymnasium and an auditorium to the site.

Newnan High School

190 LaGrange St, Newnan, GA 30263

The recently completed 223,398-square-foot Newnan High School was designed by Southern A&E and finished in July 2024. The new campus features 82 additional instructional units, a state-of-the-art gymnasium, a modern cafeteria, and a spacious auditorium. The project replaced buildings damaged by an EF-4 tornado in 2021, providing upgraded facilities to support the school’s growth and the community's needs.

Rosemont Elementary School

4679 Hamilton Rd, LaGrange, GA 30241

Rosemont Elementary School, designed by Southern A&E for Troup County Schools, was completed in July 2024. The 116,010-square-foot facility houses 58 instructional units, accommodating a full-time enrollment of 1,000 students. The school features dedicated rooms for art, music, and special education, along with a gymnasium for
physical education, a cafeteria, and a large media center.

Alexander High School Preforming Arts Center

6500 Alexander Pkwy, Douglasville, GA 30135

The 26,858 SF Alexander High School Performing Arts Center, designed by Southern A&E for the Douglas County School System, was completed in Spring 2023. The center features a 603-seat auditorium, a spacious lobby and foyer, tech support spaces, dressing rooms, and ample storage. This state-of-the-art facility enhances the school’s arts programs, providing students with a professional space to showcase their talents and engage with the performing arts.

Heroes Elemenrary School

4001 Highway 332, Hoschton, GA 30548

The 125,550 SF Heroes Elementary School, designed by Southern A&E, opened in August 2023 and plays a key role in Jackson County's educational growth. Spanning 22.47 acres, the school features 69 instructional units and serves over 900 students. Part of a 134.7-acre campus shared with Legacy Knoll Middle School and Jackson County High School, it offers students a seamless transition through all grade levels. Named in honor of military, first responders, medical personnel, and educators, Heroes Elementary represents a significant investment in both the students and the community.
